WHAT IS NA?
NA is a non-profit community of men and women for whom drugs have become a significant problem. Narcotics Anonymous is a program of total abstinence from all drugs, we are recovering addicts, helping each other stay clean. NA is open to anyone who feels they need it. Our community is non-professional, self-sufficient, does not discriminate on the basis of religion, race or political affiliation, and can be found almost everywhere in the world. There is no age limit or education qualification for membership.
WHAT IS NA DOING?
1. NA members share their experiences with anyone who asks for help to solve a drug problem. NA provides personal assistance, called sponsorship, to addicts who come to NA from anywhere.
2. Our twelve-step programme shows the addict a way to live a fulfilling life without drugs.
3. This programme is discussed at NA group meetings.
4. Open meetings are open to both drug addicts and interested people. Attending open meetings is the best way to find out what NA is, does and does not do. At these meetings, one or more members tell their own story, their experiences with addiction, how they came to NA and how their lives have changed since then.
5. In open group meetings, one member speaks briefly about their experiences of use and sobering up, followed by a discussion where each contributor talks about their own experiences. Closed meetings are open to NA members and anyone with a drug problem.
6. NA members also hold meetings in medical and correctional institutions.
7. NA members (groups) may be invited to hold information meetings at various events, organisations and institutions.
WHAT DOES NA NOT DO?
The NA
- Does not initiate treatment for addicts
- Does not recruit members
- Does not initiate or support research
- Does not keep an attendance record or medical history
- Not joining the councils of social institutions
- Does not follow or influence its members
- Does not make a medical or psychological diagnosis or prognosis
- Does not provide withdrawal or nursing services, hospital care or any medical or psychiatric treatment
- Does not provide religious services
- Does not provide housing, food, clothing, employment, money or other social benefits
- Does not provide household or professional advice
- Does not accept money for services or other benefits from non-NA sources
- It does not give letters of recommendation to courts, lawyers, social organisations, employers, etc.
SUMMARY
NA's primary goal is to deliver the message of recovery to addicts seeking help. Whatever the path we follow, we share a common goal: the recovery and reintegration of drug addicts into society. Together we can do what we cannot do alone.
We offer personal experience and can provide ongoing support for recovering addicts.

Ki a legmegfelelőbb az NA üzenetének továbbítására?
Tapasztalatunk szerint a legjobb a tagoknak az, ha 3 hónapja tiszták, mikor részt vesznek az üzenettovábbításon, és hat hónapja tiszták, mikor megosztanak. Nem számit az, hogy voltunk e hasonló intézményben. A K&I munkára bárki alkalmas, akinek tiszta és következetes üzenete van az NA-ról, és aki hajlandó ezt megosztani.
Mi az NA tiszta üzenete?
Csak a mai nap, soha többé nem kell használnod.
Egy függő, bármelyik függő abba tudja hagyni a használatot, elveszítheti a használat vágyát és találhat egy új élet utat.

Mit tegyünk?

Kezdjétek és végezzetek időben!
Hangsúlyozzátok, hogy az NA-ban való felépülés minden függő számára elérhető, függetlenül a használt drogoktól.
Tisztán fektessétek le, hogy az NA különáll az intézménytől és más közösségektől.
Vegyétek be a gyűlésbe a bentlakókat, különösen azokat, akik hosszú ideig vannak ott (felolvasások, stb.).
Feleljetek meg az öltözködési normáknak, gyakoroljátok a józan észt.
Világítsátok át a panel tagokat, speakereket, és gyűlésvezetőket.

Ne törjétek meg más anonimitását.

Ne keveredjetek vitába külső ügyekről, ne feledjétek, hogy miért vagyunk ott.
Ne beszéljetek az intézmény állapotáról.
Ne beszéljetek az intézmény dolgozóiról a bentlakókkal.
Ne viseljetek nagyon kirívó ékszert, és ne vigyetek túl sok pénzt.
Ne favorizáljátok egyik bentlakót sem.
Ne adjatok át üzeneteket, vagy vigyetek leveleket az intézménybe vagy onnan.
Ne kérdezzétek, hogy milyen bűnt követett el az adott benntlakó, és ne vitassátok meg ártatlanságát vagy bűnösségét.
Ne fogadjatok el pénzt vagy ajándékokat, és ne adjatok ti sem a benntlakóknak.

If you want what we have to offer, and you are willing to make the effort to get it, then you are ready to take certain steps. These are the principles that have made our recovery possible.
The 12 Steps of NA
1 We have admitted that we were powerless over our addiction and our lives were out of control.
2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore our sanity.
3. we have decided to leave our will and our lives in the care of God according to our own understanding.
4. we have taken a thorough and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. We have admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another man the exact nature of our faults.
6. We were fully prepared for God to remove all these character defects.
7. We humbly asked Him to remove our faults.
8. we made a list of all those we had wronged and became willing to make restitution to each of them.
9. we made direct reparations to these people where we could, except where it would have hurt them or others.
10. We continued to take personal inventory, and when we made mistakes, we admitted it immediately.
11. through prayer and meditation, we sought to develop a conscious relationship with God according to our own understanding, praying only that we might recognize His will for us and have the strength to carry it out.

The NA 12 Tradition
We can only keep what we have if we take care of it, and just as the freedom of the individual comes from the Twelve Steps, so the freedom of the group comes from our Traditions.
As long as the bonds that hold us together are stronger than those that separate us, all will be well.
1. our common welfare must come first; individual recovery depends on NA unity.
2. for the purpose of our group, there is one ultimate authority - a loving God who expresses Himself in the conscience of our group. Our leaders are only trusted servants; not rulers.
3. There is only one condition of membership; the desire to stop using.
4. each group should be autonomous except in matters that affect other groups or NA as a whole.
5. Each group has one primary purpose, to carry the message to the addict still suffering.
An NA group should never endorse or fund any affiliated institution or outside business, nor should it cede the NA name for use by them, because money, property and prestige problems will divert us from our primary purpose.
7. All NA groups should be completely self-sufficient, rejecting outside contributions.
8. Narcotics Anonymous should always remain non-professional, although our service centers may employ special workers.
9. NA as such should never be organized, but we may form service boards or committees that are directly responsible to those they serve.
10. Narcotics Anonymous has no opinion on matters outside of itself; therefore, the NA name should never be drawn into public debate.
11. Our contact with the public is based on attraction rather than propaganda. We must always maintain our personal anonymity in the press, on the radio, and in films.
12. anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, always reminding us to put principles before personalities.
